Summerfest Servants

by Pastor David

“I love to tell the story of unseen things above, Of Jesus and His glory, of Jesus and His love. I love to tell the story, because I know ’tis true; It satisfies my longings as nothing else can do.

I love to tell the story, ’twill be my theme in glory, To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story, for some have never heard The message of salvation from God’s own holy Word. I love to tell the story, for those who know it best Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest. And when, in scenes of glory, I sing the new, new song,’Twill be the old, old story that I have loved so long.” Written in 1866 from a poem that created two popular hymns, “I love to tell the story” focuses on the delight of talking about the greatest news ever. The story of Jesus and his love might be old, but it satisfies our longings, is true, is good news no matter how often we’ve heard it, and is the source of our eternal praise.

This summer, Summerfest and Kidsfest will focus on the old, old Gospel story. Each night we will hear Gospel truth and be encouraged by Gospel testimonies from others. I’m anticipating a sweet and grace-saturated summer. To make Summerfest and Kidsfest possible, we need you. First, I hope you will plan to come, and that you will invite others to come with you. Pray that God will use these nights of Gospel preaching to save friends and loved ones, as well as encouraging true believers. Second, get involved in serving. Last year we had over 50 people serving to make Summerfest and Kidsfest work. Below are some ways to serve, so sign up on the bulletin or talk to Pastor David.

For Summerfest

Facilities leader: Oversees the Kidsfest facilities and any Summerfest facility needs, if needed. Primary concern is of the facilities for Kidsfest. Arrives early or has team in place to help set up.

Greeting coordinator and greeting team: Coordinate greeters for each night of summerfest. Greeters themselves will greet people, especially visitors, as they arrive at summerfest and help direct people as needed.

For Kidsfest

Craft leader (2): This leader plans crafts for three of the weeks, gathers whatever supplies are needed, and helps the kids make it.

Game leader (2): This leader plans games for three of the weeks, gathers whatever supplies are needed, and helps the kids have a blast playing them.

Craft helpers: This helper needs to be good at crafts, and able to coordinate with the craft leader to know what each craft will be and then help the kids make it.

Game helpers: This helper will need to help set up the games, make them fun while they are happening, and then help tear them down. They report to the game leader.

Class helpers (12): Each class leader will need two helpers every night to assist with fun and function.

Nursery workers (36)

We will have a key meeting for all Summerfest/Kidsfest workers on Thursday, May 21, at 6:30 at the church office.
