Grace for Generations

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.    Ephesians 3:20-21

These are exciting days to be a part of God’s work at Grace Church. He is actively maturing us as a family, deepening our knowledge of Him through His Word and growing us in ministry through His sovereign Spirit. We’re developing from a fledgling Bible study to a consistent, stable family, and His grace is the only possible explanation. It’s also God’s grace that informs us about giving towards the work of the ministry. 2 Corinthians 9:8 says, “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.” That verse comes entirely in the context of giving, giving that comes without anyone compelling it but is individually decided, unreluctant, and cheerful.

The reality is that we can’t do much significant ministry apart from your giving, let alone consider a building project. But grace itself teaches us that, far from a duty or a demand, generous giving to Kingdom work is a natural outflow of our submission to the Gospel. Giving actively demonstrates that our treasure isn’t here, but is in Heaven, and so we can use our resources for eternal good. Giving is a joy and a privilege, and one we would miss out on if God wasn’t meeting all of our needs. But thankfully, God has “distributed freely, he has given to the poor.” He has placed us at the threshold of an unknown future for our church, but one that is brimming full of potential and excitement.

We’re at a unique moment in our church life when we can give to see something built that has the potential of impacting future generations. If this project is going to be a joy for us as a Body, it will be because God’s grace provides for us and lifts our eyes to see how our giving glorifies Him. When it comes to this project, we can’t move forward without your gifts. We won’t take any action until we have 80% of the funds in cash or pledges. At this point the land and building, demolition, architect fees to this stage, and other legal fees are all completely paid. What we don’t have is the funds to move forward in a significant way.

Our heartfelt desire is to break ground at the end of this year. If we can only do part of the project, like the worship center, or if we can tackle the whole thing depends entirely on God’s grace to and through you. Will you seriously pray and consider how God would like you to give? Our need is great, but we think the potential is too. Whatever you give, do it from a willing decision and heart gripped by grace. That’s what will glorify God and lead to true joy for us as a church.

You can give at any time towards the building, either using the envelopes or else designating your gift as “Building fund.” May God provide for us and through us as well!

In Him,
